Liability Insurance Surcharge for High-Risk Rural Deliveries

01 Sep 2023

As hijackings on rural delivery routes continue to increase, especially along roads to remote or high-risk areas, we have introduced a new policy to help safeguard our distributors' orders. Effective from 1 September 2023, orders that exceed R20,000 and require delivery through our third-party courier service to these targeted locations will incur a liability insurance surcharge.

This new measure ensures the safety and financial protection of high-value orders sent to regions that have previously been subject to criminal activity. The surcharge will cover additional insurance costs associated with these deliveries, calculated based on the specific value of each order. This policy has been carefully implemented to help our distributors secure their products during transit, even in challenging regions.

Our third-party courier service provider will calculate the insurance fee according to the order’s value, and we will communicate the exact surcharge amount to the distributor prior to dispatch. We understand that this may be an additional expense, but it’s essential for ensuring peace of mind in delivering valuable orders to areas deemed high-risk.

We appreciate our distributors' understanding and cooperation as we work to enhance security on these essential deliveries. Our commitment remains to deliver products efficiently and safely, and we will continue to adapt our policies as needed to meet the evolving challenges of our logistics.
